Jimmys Apartments – Sidari – Corfu

My wife & I spent two weeks at Jimmy’ Apartments on Corfu in July 09. When we arrived, I must admit it seemed well looked after & quite pleasant.  Jimmy’s sits on the outskirts of Sidari & you have a bit of a walk to get to the livelier part of town.

Jimmy’s wife & daughter are very pleasant although I am afraid Jimmy himself doesn’t suffer fools gladly. Mick the barman was quite friendly & can be a laugh at times. Unfortunately, Jimmy’s has the maid from hell & while we resided there on holiday practically everyone complained about her & her attitude towards holiday makers. The word on the street is that Jimmy has employed this grumpy old woman for years & won’t get rid of her.

This is Jimmy’s failing, he needs to employ someone who can smile & clean at the same time. There was no toilet paper provided and considering we paid 1,700 quid to go on holiday there, I thought that was a bit of an eye opener.

We went to Jimmy’s barbecue & and must say I was very impressed – well cooked food & it tasted lovely. I felt Jimmy could use his reception area a little better as it is very well air conditioned & could be turned into a small TV room, as they aren’t keen to turn over the TV’s from the sports channel in the bar area. I also feel they could install Internet access – at least one computer, as the youngsters / teenagers would use it on a regular basis.

Beware of the Corfu mosquitoes as they love to take a bite out of holiday makers - my wife ended up at the Sidari surgery paying 75 Euros for the fist visit & 60 Euros for the second (plus doctor’s report). They aren’t keen to sell you medication at the chemist & tell you to go to the doctors. I wonder why!! Boots aftersun mosquito repellent seems to work a treat though.
