Destination Reviews

Reviews of places and destinations, distinct from the hotel reviews which can be found down the sidebar. The articles are user experiences of places around the globe, featuring things to do places to visit and activities. The idea is that it will encourage you to book a holiday package that’s a little different. Then again, Benidorm will always be a safer option ;)

overview of the destination
Ganapatipuleis a beach town in the Ratnagiri district. The MTDC resort is right at the beach but book in advance. There is a Ganapati temple at the beach. Avoid Tuesdays as the beach may get crowded. However the part of the beach in front of MTDC resort is always sparse & you can thoroughly enjoy yourself with your family. The neighouring Bhandarpule is also an excellent beach & you can sometimes have the whole beach to yourself. The sand & the clear blue waters keep changing colours at different time of the day. Do not forget to take your swimwear along.

The Gangtok approach road from Bagdogra was very bad but the hill station was clean & the traffic was very orderly. The mg road in Gangtok should be emulated in all hill stations. The surrounding places like Temi, Rumtek etc & villages were clean & inviting. People were friendly & helpful.

We went for a short excursion to Dahanu, Bordi & Jawhar from Pune. The route from Dahanu to Bordi is about 15 kms & is good & sceninc. You can go to Bordi two different ways. Bordi beach is a black sand beach & very sticky too. The sea is only one to two feet deep until almost half km out. Sunset was a good experience from the beach.

NB: This review appears to be standard tourist information.
The Akshi beach is a beautiful white sand beach. Plenty of suru trees can be seen along the coast. The water is very clean & it is very safe for swimming. The beach is also a favourite among the birdwatchers & nature lovers.

The village is full of fishermen & it is not crowded at all. The beach at Akshi is a favourite tourist spot. One could lounge around the clear beaches & step into the warm & unruffled Arabian sea.

Diu in India is a picturesque & idyllic place to laze around the clean beach & even the town is clean. Far from the hustle & bustle of the mainland where the main holiday package operators ship people to. There are three beaches, all of them clean & not at all crowded. Nagoa beach is the most attractive. Its cresent shaped & has water sports activities.

Highly recommended for those who want to be away from the maddening crowds that seem to throng most locations across India during holidays. Kasauli is the place to go to if you want to breathe the fresh air, walk endlessly & appreciate nature. In fact I kept telling my daughter to breathe the fresh air in Kasauli to take care of all the pollution that one encounters in Mumbai.
