Efendi Hotel – Icmeler – Turkey

The Hotel Efendi in Icmeler is a 3 storey hotel without a lift & a small 24hour reception area. The safety deposit boxes are £10 per week & if you have a night flight return home & need to keep your room on it will cost £16 but is well worth it.

The rooms are big enough but only have a small balcony with two chairs & a table. There is no extra charge for the air conditioning which is just about adequate to keep the room cool but the afternoon temperatures reached 43C when we were there so it was very, very warm. They can provide a fridge in the room (which costs extra) but we didn’t bother with it ourselves. There’s plenty of cupboard space & enough coat hangers, so no need to bring extra. If you do plenty of reading there is also a collection of books that people have left behind for you to borrow, along with some magazines that are about a week old but still OK when you need something to read.

Breakfast at the hotel is above average for Turkey with Cornflakes, scrambled & boiled eggs, various meats & cheeses, tomatoes, cucumber etc & really nice bread with butter, jams & honey. To drink, there is cold water, orange juice, coffee & tea & you can have as much or as little as you want as it is a buffet service so you help yourself, except for the coffee & tea which the waiters bring to your table.
