Sunrise Island View Resort – Sharm El Sheik – Egypt

We stayed all inclusive at the Sunrise Island View and found that there was plenty of choice for adults & children & the food was tasty. The hotel & rooms were clean & tidy although they could have done with a re-vamp as some furniture is quite tired looking.

The hotel is in a fabulous location in Sharm El Sheikh, right on Soho Square which has a brilliant British pub called “The Queen Vic” where the kids can go bowling out the back for ÂŁ2! there are plenty of designer shops, posh restaurants & entertainment every night, not forgetting the dancing fountains! The hotel staff are friendly & helpful. The entertainment is OKay but it gets a bit samey after a week.

Now just a couple of little gripes: if you want a sunbed you must get up at 0530 – 0600, no joke! There are just not enough sunbeds for all of the guests and this applies to all the pools! If you don’t get one you will need to sit at the aluminium tables & chairs round the pool which are not exactly comfortable. There were a lot of complaints about this during our stay. There were also a few frayed tempers as it seemed when some people tipped the pool attendent, sunbeds magically appeared for them at any time of the day!

The other gripe is the pool cleanliness: the pool with the slide into it seemed to get cloudier as the days went by & you could see dirty stuff in it! The doctor had a lot of children to see him about ear infections & then they closed the pool to clean it, it took them a whole day to do so, but the point is, it should have never been allowed to get that dirty in the first place. The pool by the beach was also evacuated for a day due to raw sewage leaking from a manhole cover by the sunbed area, this was cleaned & re-opened.

As we go on holiday for the sun & pools, I think that these two gripes are quite important when recommending a holiday to someone. This hotel is not a four star, in fact it’s nowhere near & should not be priced as such. If I could have my holiday in Egypt over again, I would chose the Hilton, Savoy or Sierra as are all in the same fabulous location :)
