Park El Kebir Hotel – Hammamet – Tunisia

Plenty to eat and drink on AI although the wine is an aquired taste. The room was cleaned every day to a high standard but some areas of the hotel were not as clean (courtyard rooms). The location of the Park El Kebir Hotel is not very good if you expect to find bars and entertainment outside the hotel and the staff are good if you tip them - but sometimes ignore you to look after the German holiday makers!
The animation team are nice and try their best (thats all I’m going to say about them!). I dont really think its a Platinum standard hotel.

We arrived at 10pm to be shown to a room in the courtyard without the sea-view room we paid for so we went straight to the reception to complain and were told that there wasn’t one available until the next day. We got ours at 1pm the next day and did not unpack till then so we lost a good chunk of the first day of our holiday hanging round waiting for our room.

Over the week we stayed, we were not the only Brits that this happend to (but it never happened to the German visitors) and in fact some were given seaview rooms when they had not booked them! So my advice is make double sure that if you pay for a seaview its there before you accept your keys.

We have stayed in this hotel before and we liked it very much as it used to be a peaceful and relaxing hotel.
MY HOW TIMES HAVE CHANGED!! A large group of Russians arrived and bulldozed their way through everything (I thought the Brits were supposed to be the loud chavvy tourists???, …I was wrong) I think the German tourists were miffed the Russians were louder and brasher than them!!

Over the week I and others noticed that Brits seemed to be treated like 2nd class citizens from allocations of rooms and dinner tables to waiter service in the bars and lobby no matter how much we seemed to tip it seemed others had priority over us. When the German holidaymakers said to the staff ‘jump’ the staff said ‘how high?’. I would like to go back to this hotel but only if Brits were treated equal to other nationalities and that you got the room you paid for and didn’t have to waste a day of your holiday waiting to get it!
