Palm Wings Beach Resort – Didyma – Turkey

We found the Palm Wings hotel in Didyma to be excellent value for money. Overall, the hotel is very clean, the food more than adequate, the location to the beach & shops perfect & the staff very friendly.

Hotel – we were in the main block at first but after the technical guys failed to fix a leak in the bathroom from the air conditioning pipe, we were moved quite quickly to a bungalow. Both rooms were cleaned regularly, were modern & well furnished and the air conditioning was very effective.

Food - enough choice to suit the British, Western & Eastern Europeans. We loved the soups, the stuffed aubergines, stuffed peppers, liver, veal & barbequed meat (outside the restaurant) in particular. The a la carte Turkish (10 lira pp) was delicious but was far too much to eat (meze, local cheeses, salad, pastry, adana kebab, pudding & ice cream!) and with waiter service too was a bargain. Although we don’t eat English abroad ourselves, there were chips, burgers, pasta etc as options.

Location - at the back of the Palm Wings hotel there is a lovely beach. It is down several sets of steps but as the hotel is elevated you are often repaid with a lovely breeze which makes the heat bearable. The main shops in Didyma are a 20 minute walk or short dolmus ride away. To the left of the beach there is a cliff top walk with stunning views & deserted coastline.

Staff - we found everybody very friendly and the entertainment team tried very hard for a bunch of young people. They tried to encourage you to join in but were not pushy. The sketches etc were the usual fare but the break dancing night was good. Unfortunately (for us) there was little other entertainment. There was really just a guy who played a keyboard & trumpet (at the same time.) There was also only one place to drink in an evening (the pool bar) so it got very repetitive & the drinks were served in plastic cups.

Pool - very big with enough space for everybody, including games & 3 slides. It was extremely slippery around the edge though & you have to walk on the astro-turf. It is noisy around the pool as you’d expect but if you pick a spot around the edges on the far side then it isn’t so bad.

We had a relaxing holiday with no problems and what more could you ask for?
