Marfil Hotel – San Antonio – Ibiza

We flew Easyjet to San Antonio & booked the Marfil hotel by researching highly recommended hotels via various hotel review websites. The hotel Marfil was highly recommended & lived up to it’s reputation for cleanliness & helpful & welcoming staff.

Our room was comfortable & in excellent condition. There were twin beds, a TV with plenty of channels including English ones, good lighting, dressing table, good blackout curtains (if you want a lie-in! ), wardrobe with a safe. The bathroom was spotless with bath, shower, loo & bidet. The towels were fresh & in good condition too.

From the outside the hotel Marfil is nothing special. We arrived at night & it looked like it was in a dingy road off the beaten track but in the daylight this was not the case. It is in a tidy area & a fairly busy road with various shops nearby. There is a small supermarket & a laundry next door and a free car park 5 mins walk away plus meter parking opposite & free parking in the road behind.

Inside the hotel is comfortable, modern & clean. Staff speak English & are knowledgable & friendly. There is a computer with free Internet access in reception & a few chairs, sofas, etc. They sell drinks from reception but it is not a proper bar.

Breakfast is served until noon. There is an adequate range of food including cereals, cheese, salami, ham, jams, croissants, pain au chocolat, fresh & dried nuts & fruits, yoghurts, hot drinks, juice and milk.

We used this hotel as a base for touring Ibiza (which we did in virtually a day!), I wouldn’t say this hotel is suitable for children as there is no pool or garden but it is is a short walking distance to the club night life & harbour (a 10 minute slow stroll away from both).

The best car hire deal by far was with Auriga Crown (the first window in baggage reclaim at the airport).

We ate at the Tijuna tex-mex restaurant directly opposite the hotel (good food & service), a typical Ibizan restaurant (around the corner, one minute walk) – reception will tell you where it is and it’s excellent food & service again plus in the Can Cous – a restaurant about 20 mins drive from San Antonio which serves organic, homemade food (good food & service). A typical two course meal with a couple of beers was around £45.

We liked the following beaches as they were fairly small with a bar/restaurant, scenic, clean, etc. Cala Xarraca, Cala Valdella, Cala Hort and Cala Comte. The last 3 are ideal for seeing the sunset which was around 9pm in early june. The temperature in early june is around 80 in the day & 20 at night.

We were only in Ibiza for 3 days & this was plenty enough to tour around & chillout for a while. Apart from Ibiza town there is not really much to see or discover on the island & it is not nearly as pretty as many other countries we have visited, ie. Corfu, Majorca, Menorca, Fuerteventura or even Lanzarote, but iIf you’re after a clubbing holiday it is an ideal holiday destination – plenty of clubs, bars, beaches & sunshine!
