Los Salmones – Playa del Ingles – Gran Canaria

Our first opinion of the Los Salmones hotel would have been nice if it wasn’t for the building work going on around it (May 09), but there were metal fences all around due to them pedestrianising the area. Reception was small but we were checked in quickly & given directions to our room, Block 2, room 272.

The room looked OK on first inspection but we later noticed that all the sockets weren’t attatched to the walls properly & my two year old had great fun yanking them all out. The shower was another experience, the head wouldn’t fit properly in the holder & turned away from you when it was turned on, although it did have really good strong flow, but you just had to hold it in your hand to use it.

The kitchenette was hardly adequate with only two hot plates & two pans, I at least expected a kettle. Maid service was 3 times a week although advertised at 5 times, but judging by the amount of half dead cockroaches we found every morning, they must have been doing something right!

The pool area was nice, plenty of sunbeds & a safe area for children to play. Bar staff were OK too. We found that if you go around the corner away from the bar you could take your own drinks as no staff came around there during the day to collect glasses or anything which worked out to be a lot cheaper, & everyone was doing it so we thought we might as well join in. Didn’t eat in the hotel, so can’t comment on the food, but food that came from the snack bar looked OK, pizzas & salads & stuff.
