Kanali Hotel – Sidari – Corfu

The Kanali hotel and apartments are located in the Canal d’Amour area of Sidari (Peroulades, really) & enjoy a clifftop location above the main cove. There are two, 3-storey buildings in a “T” shape, with the apartments facing the sea & the studios at 90 degrees to the sea. At the opposite end of the apartment building is the pool & the Aquarius Bar/Restaurant. From here, across the coastal path are some steps down to a small beach (about 20 steps & a bit rickety). There is a larger beach at the other side of the cove, about 30 metres away.

The view from the apartments & the restaurant is superb! You can see all along the north coast of Corfu & the mountains of Albania. The rooms are quite big & very clean, although the cooking facilities are quite basic – one big electric ring, one small ring, oven & grill, and a toaster & kettle. The fridge has a small ice box & is all you really need for a week or two’s self catering. The bathroom has a toilet, washbasin & shower & hot water never ran out. The balconies/terraces are quite roomy, too, & have table & chairs, but, because you are on the north coast & facing the sea, sun bathing is best done around the pool or in the garden next to the pool area.

The staff are all friendly and helpful & give the impression that they really want you to enjoy your holiday which I found refreshing when comparing it to my experiences on Spanish holidays. The rooms are cleaned & bins emptied just about every day.

I thought the location was unbeatable. Canal d’Amour has plenty of shops, tavernas & restaurants & the main strip in Sidari is only a short, level 20 minute walk away, so you can have as much fun as you like in the evenings & peace & quiet at bedtime. You do not need a torch to find your way home as there is street lighting all the way. The Aquarius Bar in the hotel offers a varied menu & the meals we had there were much enjoyed & good value for money. Spiros & the staff are friendly & great fun.

Highly recommended for all age groups & families.
