Hanedan Hotel – Istanbul – Turkey

We have just returned from our stay in the Hanedan Hotel. The hotel is about 5 mins walk from the Blue Mosque & Hagia Sofia so in a fairly good location, although it’s in the middle of a street of bars, restaurants etc so there is noise til about midnight.

We had the top floor and the rooms were fine with 4 poster beds but quite a walk up 3 flights of stairs, so not suitable for anyone with disabilities. Management were fine, not overly friendly but not rude either, seem to keep to themselves, probably because we didn’t do any of their trips!

We had our wedding anniversary whilst there, they were aware of this but nothing extra was given, they recommended a restaurant called Hamdi to celebrate that was supposed to be great & very popular & bookings only, but we were very disappointed with it. It’s a cattle market, they couldn’t wait to get you out for next table to arrive.

Food was generally served in small quantities & mainly kebabs, & plenty of extra charges so I wouldn’t recommend this, the only good thing was the views from the terrace of the Bosphorus & a new mosque, it’s near Galata bridge. Hotel is clean & basic, they give you 5% off for cash payment. We booked larger rooms at 65 euro & these big rooms weren’t that large, overall ok, but with excellent views from the terrace of Blue mosque, Hagia Sofia & the Bosphorus
