Alisios Hotel – Albufeira – Algarve
We stayed at the Alisios Hotel on a ‘bed & breakfast’ basis. The choice & quality of food was quite good though mainly geared towards the Germans. We found out much later that you could ask for bacon & eggs instead of the usual continental style if you preferred.
The hotel was about the cleanest I have ever stayed in & even had antiseptic gel dispensers at the end of each corridor. It was relaxingly quiet, except on the two nights when there was a barbeque/buffet evening featuring very loud music on the sun-terrace untill late.
Although the hotel hasn’t got an outside pool, the indoor pool was empty 99% of the time, possibly because there were notices on the doors saying swimming hats MUST be worn. These were on sale in the hotel reception at a cost of 5 Euros each. We did see several people go in without swimming hats & nothing was said. There is a private set of steps down to the beach, which in itself became private when the tide came in & cut off that small section.
It was only a 10 minute stroll to Albufiera Old Town where there is a massive choice of restaurants. These were generally quite expensive due to the £/Euro exchange being so low when we were there. Across the road from the hotel stretching for about 3/4 of a mile, was a continuous string of houses & hotels & nothing of interest.
One last thing, the Germans do reserve the sunbeds early doors so be prepared.
