Pedras Del Rei is a hotel made up of different standard apartment blocks, the rooms are spacy, reasonably clean but I ended up doing most of the cleaning as the room service was pretty abysmal.

The grounds in which these apartments stand are fantastic, they are part of the Formosa National Park & are a real treasure. The actual buildings are quite tired & really need a massive update though.

The apartment that we stayed in had all the cooking facilities you need, no hairdryer or kettle though. The one good thing is that there was peace & quiet so we slept well, and it was a decent last minute holiday deal. I would go there again at a push!

A nice central location. Built in the 1970′s but refurbished. Decor internally has a rather Moorish look. Good sized rooms with air conditioning & mini bar but no kettle; many have sea views. 9 floors with only two lifts so be prepared to wait for lift, especially at breakfast & early evening.

Staff very good. Breakfast does not vary but still a good choice. Swimming pool very pleasant. Entertainment was rubbish. Many Dutch guests. Best suited for couples wanting a quiet life. Not recommended for families or singles. We would return here without hesitation but may request a lower floor next time.

The apartments are clean, spacious & well equipped. There are both one & two bedroom apartments. Ours was listed as overlooking Sagres, but we could only see Sagres from the the kitchen window.

The balcony overlooked the car park & the access road to the complex. We weren’t bothered by noise from the cars but did feel a little on show when sitting on the balcony as it was situated directly over reception.

I have just returned from this hotel & the rooms are cleaned every day but the bedding was not changed once in two weeks & the towels where only changed once in two weeks. Also there seemed to be a really bad smell from the drain in the bathroom which can get really bad during the night.

The pool area was full of glass which was not cleaned up & the pool was only cleaned once in two weeks as it was full on toilet roll & leaves. The hotel bar shut at 6pm, so you have to go to the sister hotel Sol Aqua for food & drinks.

Also one night one of the hotel staff was asleep at the front desk. Outside the hotel you had homeless people asleep outside the hotel which was quite scary. I would not return to this hotel & it is definitely not a 4 star hotel.

Just got back today from a holiday at the Auramar hotel. The good point is the hotel’s location being right on the seafront in Albufeira. The hotel made up of 4 blocks & reading various reviews on this hotel & on doing my homework I discovered that half the hotel has been refurbished so I sent the hotel an email asking for a refurbished room & also a high floor to take advantage of the sea view, which we were given. There were some rooms that had no view at all.

We stayed at the Alisios Hotel on a ‘bed & breakfast’ basis. The choice & quality of food was quite good though mainly geared towards the Germans. We found out much later that you could ask for bacon & eggs instead of the usual continental style if you preferred.
