La Penita is a small complex, very friendly and everything you need. The apartments are excellent, they have everything you need - microwave, toaster, kettle - they even provide clean teatowels and washing up liquid. Cleaning was done five days out of seven and the apartment was left spotless. They are in a perfect location, literally a few steps from the front, you either turn left for the quieter side of the resort, or right to go into the busier end. They are also very safe, many gates around the complex and access can only be gained from your key. We will definitely be returning. Eating out - well, many many restaurants, try the chineese restaurant Great Wall opposite Casino, Antica Italian (turn left just down the road), also another Italian just past that up the stairs overlooking sea, and our favourite La Brasa turn right from the apartments at the next junction. Supermarket just down the steps beneath the complex very expensive, there is a netto just around the corner to the right much cheaper. Pop into McGees to the left of the complex in the next square, a lovely little english bar and cheap. Many disco bars offering happy hours, we loved Tropical, Routa 66 and Paradise. Lastly, the Grapevine to the back of the complex great English eating house, and the Barge Inn on the front to the right of the complex excellent breakfast. All in all, we love La Penita and will be back!

most of the reviews i would say are accurate, unfortunately this hotel is well past its best!

Im quite open minded but having paid £1300 for a week all inclusive I was hoping for a good 4 star hotel. this didnt happen. The reception area of the hotel was beautiful and the pool area was great but thats where it ended.

I have to agree that the state of the corridors was terrible for this standard of hotel they were stained, frayed and lots of areas had been patched up to a really bad standard. The corridor walls had also been patched up with non matching paint, the rooms were shabby and not cleaned to a very good standard the towels that were available to use had holes in them and we had a regular visit by ants in the bathroom each night.

The restaurant was ok but food was very repetative, it was obvious the food was used again for dinner if it had been left over from lunch. The sweet course/pudding didnt really exist which was good for my waistline but not for my sweet tooth. We saw cockroaches in the dining room, my husband advised one of the waiters who shrugged his shoulders and kicked it under the drink dispenser.

The location of the hotel is good but its a very british resort so lots of pubs and burger shops etc.

The entertainment was ok but started at 9pm and finished an hour later then nothing.

Ive stayed at other 4 star hotels in the canaries which left this one in the shade so i wouldnt visit this one again or recommend it well not for the price we had to pay anyway!

just returned from the los zocos apt, excellent apt clean and recently refurbished,we were in block 1 room 106 the large balcony looked out onto a walkway and the back of the onsite restaurant which wasnt a problem, these apt are in a great location beach shops and bars just across the road.we were self catering, but you can upgrade to all inclusive for 23euros a day, spoke to a few people who said food was good.onsite entertainment we thought was poor, prices in supermarkets quiet expensive 14euros for pack of 16pampers nappies thats 14pound with the exchange rate as it is so take them with you, food and drinks in bars and restaurants expensive 9euros for sausage and mash,we ate at popeyes most days which was reasonably priced, between 2 and 6euros for breakfast and 7.50euros for starter and a main meal so would recommend here the owners scott and jill are very welcoming.another good bar is the waterfront excellent food and service, all in all a great holiday tho very windy, just one thing that happened while we were in our apt there was a almighty rumbling outside our front door which turned out to be maintenence men waking up every cockroach on the complex which they then sprayed with poison,an hour later the cleaners came and swept them all up,we must stress that we didnt see any cockroaches before or after.

This was our third time at this hotel, we found the interior and exterior to be a little tired in appearance for example the woodwork around doors and windows could do with re varnishing, some floor tiles wer cracked and those that had been replaced were of a lighter colour! The image wasn’t helped by the poolside restaurant being closed. Our room (sea view, top floor) was excelent, large double bed, ample storage space seperate toilet and bathroom and a balconey that had the sun from about 11.00 am till dusk, we requested this via email prior to departure and paid 70 Euros extra on arrival this we felt was money well spent as we wanted a relaxing holiday with time spent on the balcony the only downside to this (not present on previous visits) was on Saturday night when a local bar held a disco untill 4am!! I feel that rooms to the rear of the hotel would not be affected by this. We always keep an open mind about the food in hotels, however, both my wife and I struggled to come to terms with the lack of imagination towards the menus at the end of our stay, an observation to be aware of is the cooking of meats on the hot plate, the ‘chef’ places the cooking utensils on the uncooked meat after turning the food also the chicken I had was under cooked (and left) on saying this the pre prepared meat was fine I put this down to too much demand over not enough cooking time. At no time did we go hungrey and always found something to suit. Can’t comment on the childrens activites other than all the kids seemed to enjoy themselves. Staff were more than helpful and pleasant at all times, don’t be afraid to say hello especially to the maids you will be sure of a cheerful responce.

This was the best accomodation i have ever stayed in and we have booked up to go back this year. They were luxury apartments / villas for a decent price with very large balconies and large kitchen. The pool was always quiet and often you had your own private pool to swim in it was brilliant.

The apartment was cleaned every day and sheets and towels changed regularly. It was situated in a very quiet area although easy walking distance to the strip in Puerto del Carmen where all the restaurants and bars are situated. Would definately recommend Riviera Park apartments to families and couples of all ages. We all had a brilliant holiday and cant wait to go back !

Clean basic studios/apartmemts. Little mini market in reception very useful, staff very helpful.Bar often run by English couple Bob Lyn with Isa.Provide basic foods like Pizza. breakfast etc.The bar and mini market are not provided by the complex itself. Pools very nice, cleaned every day, but very cold.(Wife went in but too cold for me).Always lock your doors carefully, get a safe if you are not careful.Still paper in the bin job for number two’s.Don,t think our sheets were actually changed more than ? twice during 11 night stay.Plenty of sunbeds, but no mattresses on them.
If young I would say 5 mins to start of strip, but 10 mins. for us. A good 25 minute walk to main strip. Probably 40 minutes to the Port. A one way system being put in along the whole front, so buses don’t go each way now and some tempory stops.2.30 for 2 on bus into Puerto centre. Approx. 5 euros in Taxi to Port.
Great place for breakfast is Bagatela. Just going up from the Port on Calla Teide is Russell’s Restaurant, excellent food and entertaining. (Booking recommended).Very nice Italian about 10 minutes walk, parallel to strip(2nd on right from Apartments, then as far as you can go) it is called Ristorante PizzeriaMozzarella - does takeaway as well. Carmen bar at start of strip is good for a drink and a bit of entertainment.Very quiet at this time of year.
A place I would go to again, cheap but adequate.
