A group of 14 went to this hotel. Some of the group went when it was still a Wyndam hotel; they thought the hotel was better then.

But I have to say we had a great time, food was fine, was very good at the Three Palms restaurant but one drawback: this restaurant did not open until 4 days before our return due to refurb, although those who had been before said it was the same.

The nightclub was still being refurbished so you could not get draught beer & some other drinks. The beer was Red Stripe which started off OK but as the holiday went it got worse.

Staff at the hotel were very helpful & always had a smile.

Having holidayed in the Caribbean a number of times we decided to give Mexico a try as we do get a bit “buffet’ed out” into the second week of our stay, & Cancun offered a good selection of restaurants outside of the hotels.

We booked with First Choice & as the flight was early on the Friday morning we decided to stay overnight at the Sofitel at the Gatwick north terminal. This too allowed us to make use of the day before check-in & baggage drop. We were a bit surprised on checking in at five pm that we could not get a window seat as they were all reserved? The girl at the check-in was very unhelpful & rude when we queered this.

Typical Hotel Riu check in, very quick & efficient, no fuss & with a welcoming drink. We were checked in & in our room within 10 minutes of getting off the coach (which was full).

We have stayed at two previous Sandal Hotels before and we were doisappointed that the pool at the one in Montego Bay, Jamaica was closed due to a leak when we were there.

We have just returned from a week at the Royal Decameron Club in Runaway Bay, Jamaica & I can honestly say that it was one of the best holidays I have ever had. The hotel itself was a great choice. Despite it only being a 3 star hotel, there were no major problems with it at all. I am very glad that we chose this hotel over one of the others offered.

We had a great stay at the Bahia but points made above are valid. You are in the middle of nowhere but thats what we wanted. One of the beaches was rocky and good for snorkelling the other more sandy and good for sunbathing. Good choice of food however some evenings it was luke warm but we did notice that there wasnt alot of people eating that night. We got in all the other restaurants as we booked a week in advance the Mikado was the best you have the food cooked in front of you. We had no problems getting beds by the pool or sea but the super comfy ones had gone as we didnt get up very early. We used the safety deposit box but thought $6 anight a tad expensive and our key did deactivate after a week.We heard other people with problems but we had none. The corridors did need cleaning more regulary and apart from the made swapping our towels at 8 in the morning a few days service was ok. It was only on the weekend before we flew home when the hotel became busy did we have to start queing for anything and bewarned they are still to open one half of it and its rumoured to then be the biggest in Jamaica…yeahman!!!
