Tegal Sari – Ubud – Bali – Far East

The Tegal Sari hotel is located 1.5 km from the centre of Ubud (in Bali) & they provide free transport to & from Ubud. We asked the restaurant staff to ring & the driver came within minutes.

We also arranged for the Tegal Sari to pick us up & drop us back at our hotel in Legian when we stayed there (there is a charge for this). As we arrived at Tegal Sari before the check-in time the driver dropped us off at a nice restaurant & returned for us when we rang plus our luggage was already in our room.

The staff are wonderful, booking direct with the hotel was easy & they were quick to respond to my emails.

We had heard so much about Tegal Sari from friends who visit every year so our expectations were high and we weren’t disappointed. We booked Room 20 – a “Super Deluxe” room which was upstairs with fabulous views of the rice paddies. It had a king-sized 4-poster bed with traditional drapes. The room also had a fridge & a small L-shaped settee & coffee table. The balcony had two chairs, coffee table & a day bed. Just wonderful for a couple of days chilling out. The bathroom was lovely with a separate walk-in shower as well as a big bath.

Breakfast is limited, but ample. It can either be taken on your balcony/patio or at the small restaurant. Staff deliver your food to your room & it’s a perfect setting & a great way to start the day.

Unfortunately, I had an accident whilst at Tegal Sari. It was my own fault & I should have been looking where I was going & I missed my footing, fell & broke a bone in my foot in three places. Even with my fall it didn’t detract from our stay there, as I can’t think of a better place for “enforced” relaxation.

Next time we hope to stay for 3 nights as 2 just wasn’t enough.
