Park Hotel Odessos – Golden Sands – Bulgaria

The Park Hotel Odessos was very clean and had helpful staff, but the fittings were in need of constant maintainence, the emergency switch located within the shower area fell out and posed a threat of shock when my wife showered. She fell on getting out because the bath level was about six inches higher making it very dangerous to get down from unless you are very tall. The water pressure is very high and at one stage the shower head filter blew off and hit me in the chest.

We were given another room right away but the main shower mixer tap in that room came away from the wall and i feared we could easily have been scalded. we washed ourselves in the sink for the rest of the holiday to avoid this and decided not to tell the reception because our first move caused problems with the mini bar and we had no control over what went missing. Besides feeling like moaners, we made the best of it but apart from one exellent cafe The Parmy, the food was dreadful elswhere and we suffered diorrhea every day. No fun.

If you do go for the sun be prepared to fight with sun lounger operators, put up with a dreadful smell three times a day and very tiring girls acosting you every step. Once they know you they get quite hard-faced and insult you once you push past them. All in all a dreadful experience.. The only night i enjoyed was meeting an American and his wife on a night that we had a thunderstorm. We got extremely merry because we were trapped by the weather in a beach bar!
