Nympha Hotel – Golden Sands – Bulgaria

Our third vist to Golden Sands in Bulgaria took us to The Nympha hotel. Although it has a brilliant private on-beach location meaning there is plenty of space, sunbeds & parasols to go around the enclosure of the side gate so access to the promenade is a big minus for all the guests.

A Noddy train will take you to the main security gate every two hours though & this is a must for those of us who lack a bit of puff. The hotel itself does need a wee make over compared to the nearby Imperial, Lotus, & Riviera hotels, but as it is classified as 3*, is gets away with it… just. The lovely ‘dinky’ lift is a joy to ride in & adds a touch of charm.

The food was far better than I imagined & a full English was always available as was all the usual fayre you’d expect. Both lunch & dinner offered a good choice too & the soups were especially good & always piping hot as well. The variety was rather pleasant compared to some of the other A/I hotels we have used across The Med in recent years.

The very friendly, efficient & smiley waiting staff whipped away your plates before you even put them on the table. excellent attention. Sadly for them though their uniforms are a tad dull & ill-fitting so the management should take note asap. Good staff deserve a bit more effort being kitted out. The maids were brilliant & we took great delight is seeing just what ‘shapes’ our (daily) clean towels were going to be on our return from the beach… nice touch that.

The entertainment is held at the nearby Riviera at 9pm nightly and the 8.45pm Noddy Bus takes you there, but we never bothered as we prefered the bar & the lovely moonlight across the terrace. Not a lot of choice as regards true cocktails but plenty of free beer, wines & spirit/mixers made up for that. The ATM at the main gate was a real bonus as the nearest Exchange desk, within The Imperial, gave only two lev to the £. as did most other plces, 2. 07 at best. Use the bank just past The Admiral.

It was very, very quiet at The Nympha during our two weeks (3rd-17th June) & most guests felt the economic situation was a major factor. If you want a true place to relax, unwind & without the annoying noise of rowdy undisciplined kids, this one’s for you. A well priced All-Inclusive 3*+ is what you’ll get. Shame about the side-gate though. but the security of the whole complex does keep out the riff-raff. :o)
