Mont Park Hotel – Benidorm – Costa Blanca

Having read reviews about the Mont Park hotel in Benidorm on several websites, I was a little concerned initially about my planned holiday here. However, I also had messages from several people I know, who had enjoyed holidays at this hotel & i’m glad I listened & booked this hotel. Firstly I would say that if you are a family with young or teenage children & you prefer entertainment in your Hotel, then the Mont Park is not for you. Also if you have mobility problems then it’s probably not for you as the Mont Park is halfway up a relatively steep hill.

My minibus transfer dropped me off right outside the hotel, but the coach for the return trip picked me up outside Burger King at the bottom of the hill because coaches can’t get access to the hotel because of the location. The staff at the Mont Park can seem a little on the serious side & in the restaurant their English is limited, but they do appreciate & respond to Spanish if you try & I never experienced any problem communicating at all.

My Room was only a single room, without a balcony, but with a double bed. It was kept very clean by the maids & was perfectly adequate for my needs. I only really use hotels in Benidorm for food & sleep anyway! The bathroom was small but clean and the plumbing worked fine while the shower was good with plenty of hot water. The airconditioning in the room worked fine, although it’s not on all the time. The restaurant is a little on the small side & can get busy and I was there during the last week in Aug/first week Sept (2009). The first week was really busy with many Spanish guests but the second week was a bit quieter.

Dinner is not served until 7.30 which is a little late for me & a small queue develops waiting for the restaurant to open – it’s the same at breakfast! I was always down before the doors opened & noticed that there were still queues as I left the dining room most evenings. That aside, the hotels food itself was very good and certainly up to the standard of most hotels I’ve used in Benidorm & better than many! There was always plenty of choice with the usual salads/soups etc for Starters and main courses consisted at last one fish option, 2 or 3 different meat dishes as well as Pasta, rice dishes, ribs, lamb shanks, gammon, stews & even meat pi which was surprisingly good! Chips are available at every meal however a couple of times each week they had boiled potatoes & some lovely hotpot too! Deserts were a little more basic consisting of cakes, flans, ice cream, & various fruits, but i’m not a big desert eater so it didn’t bother me. The wine list was short but well priced and the house wine was only about 5euros a bottle, while the most expensive one was about 11euros.

The Location of the hotel was great (for me) being about 3-4 minutes walk to the beach and it was nice & quiet at night-time too! They have two computers for Internet access and there’s a small bar area at the front, but it’s fairly basic. The Pool looked OK but it’s fairly small & the sunbeds are packed tightly around it. I didn’t use this area though as I prefer the beach. The Charge for a safe was only 20 euros for two weeks.

There was TV in the Room, but only one English news channel, but I don’t watch that on Holiday myself. Overall, I had a great time here & will certainly stay at the Mont Park hotel when I next return to Benidorm.
