Episkopiana Hotel – Episkopi – Cyprus

This hotel is ideal if you are hiring a car. I was using the local buses & a new timetable was in early stages of being revised. This caused some confusion but the reception staff were very helpful.

When one bus failed to turn up they took us to the centre of the village where we could catch another bus to save us waiting two hours or having half hours walk. The hotel has a bus to take you down to the beach which people were finding very convenient.

The rooms were clean & comfortable & as long as you wanted a quiet evening the hotel is fine. I prefer it this way as you can always get a taxi to the noise but if you stay in a hotel with noisy entertainment sleep can be an issue.

All in all, an affordable package holiday. I would return to this hotel again.

Pernera Beach Hotel – Protaras – Cyprus

We love this hotel, it is in a quiet cul-de-sac at the end of a road. It is the kind of place that if you wish to be in the hustle & bustle of the resort you can be, but at the end of the evening you will be glad to know it is very very quiet, oh & you can sleep.

I would highly recommend paying the etc to upgrade to sea-view, the views are exceptional, otherwise it maybe a view of the car park!

The swimming pool isn’t over sized but plenty of swimming space & loungers. We never had an issue at all getting a bed for the day. If you want the beach, it is virtually on the sea, so therefore two minutes & you are there. Parasols & loungers are priced at 2. 50 euro per item. There is a grassed area near the pool & sea with free umbrellas & sun loungers.

The bedrooms are spacious but the TVs are really really old, some have flat screens but we never & hardly any English channels on them at all. There is a big balcony with chairs & a table to relax.

Everywhere is spacious throughout this hotel & is good for people with walking difficulties, although Cyprus in general is not good with uneven paths & unfinished roads.

There are plenty of activities in the hotel with a daily programme of evens & shows at night which are fairly good.

Breakfasts are good value as other guests have said & equally nice are the dinners with a lot of choice. Although saying this, I found last years better, maybe the choice, I am not sure.

Laundry service here, & you do have to pay for safety deposit boxes about 24 euro per fortnight. Staff are very friendly, we had no problems at all. We always had a laugh with reception staff, very curtious & attentive.

Surrounding area has a good array of food restaurants, & tour shops, I recommend Platoon for your trips, a lot cheaper than your reps & more knowledgeable. You will find this by coming out of the hotel, reach the fork in the road & it is opposite.

Good bars are the Ranch near the hotel for good atmosphere, KoKos where it is 2-1 on shorts. Free wifi at the Windmills bar (when it’s working) & the fresh house bar & restaurant at the top of the street 5 minutes from the windmills.

The fresh house is exactly that, very good prices for all budgets, exceptionally clean & tidy. Panikos & Maria welcome everyone, they are the cleanest restaurant by miles in my opinion. Very friendly, if your choice is not on the menu, Panikos will do it for you. All the family can enjoy the ambiance, including watching TV or playing pool. It is not a noisy place to eat, but tables & brollies are outside to watch the world go by & relax.

Pernera is a lot quieter than protaras, but has a family feel to it, if you want noise at night, but to retire to your room & sleep, then this hotel & area will be right for you.

Mimosa Beach Hotel – Protaras – Cyprus

I stayed in June 2009 with a group & again with just a friend in June 2010. The hotel is exactly as described in brochures & website. Its position with such a lovely bay is I think great. You do not pay for sunbeds on the hotel site. The council charge for the beach beds on the beach.

The decoration in the dining room & on the stairs up to reception is delightful with wonderful murals & tiled pictures showing Cypriot life.

The food is plentiful & full of variety. Particularly I would recommend their soups – if you stay for two weeks you will not have the same soup any night.

Entertainment is low key family type & has a good atmosphere. The pool is a great attraction during the day.

I will be back next year; great package holiday.

Moniatis Hotel – Limassol – Cyprus

This hotel is in a village just on the outskirts of Limassol. There is a good bus connection for €1 each way, but you can buy a daily ticket for €2 or a weekly for €10 & then use any extra buses as well. All Cypriot bus routes have been upgraded this summer & this reduces costs in taxis.

The rooms are pleasant & kept very clean. The hotel also has a small pool, with a terrace & garden area to sit in.

Mainly the visitors were repeat visitors. There is a taverna open on Fridays & Saturdays close to the hotel serving an excellent Cypriot Meze & accompanied by very good local music. Many locals go to these evenings & if you are lucky you will see them up dancing the traditional steps.

The hotel is ideal for those wishing to see village life & get out & about rather than needing nightlife on their immediate doorstep.

The Manager, Gregory, is happy to advise on routings if you wish to go out & explore the island.
