Aonang Cliff Beach Resort – Krabi – Thailand

This hotel is situated in Aonang town just set back from the main road that runs through it. As such the beach is only a 5 minute walk away & is close to all the amenities that you need while there. Restaurants, banks, ATM’s, shops, tailors, trips/taxis etc are all nearby.

Because of this it really is good for getting around & getting the things you need. However there is a slight issue with this, the noise in the rooms that are on the front of the hotel (directly over the shops underneath) can suffer from noise through the night.

To be fair we stayed for two weeks & perhaps two or 3 nights were affected by the noise, one of which was the first night we arrived when a “good luck” religious festival was going on, so you cant complain about that.

Other nights were affected by a night club down the road or from people sitting outside the McDonald’s under our room talking & laughing until the early hours. To say this was a major issue would exaggerate it as it wasn’t.

The double glazing & the black out curtains really cut the noise down & on the remaining nights the loudest thing was the air conditioning unit, so don’t let this put you off too much unless you really are looking for absolute peace & quiet where we would suggest you look out of the town centre.

Also to overcome this there are just as many rooms that are rear facing (ie facing the pool & reception) that will undoutably be a lot quieter – so you could request one of these either with travel agent or at check in.

The hotel is kept very clean by the staff & is in good condition as it is only 12-18 months old, as such all the hotel still looks well presented. The staff do a very good job, particularly house keeping, of making up the rooms & keeping it clean in the corridors & circulations spaces.

The pool, reception, bar & massage area are all really nicely kept & the pool is fabulous as it looks out over the cliffs opposite the resort – a truly great view while on the loungers or in the pool.

We didn’t eat there, except for breakfasts, as the prices were more expensive than the numerous surrounding restaurants, however the breakfast was ordered from a menu (continental, American, full English, fruit, omelets etc) & was always well prepared & presented – really nothing to complain about, especially the roof top restaurant where you eat which has the view of the cliffs as well.

There was some building work going on behind the reception & pool area where they are extending the hotel however this work stopped in October & no works were undertaken while we were there.

The hotel told us they will not start work again until the season ends in April(ish) so don’t worry about this. They have also, thoughtfully, covered the building work up with plants & screens to minimize the impact.

The reception area has free internet use which was really useful for finding out things to do & arranging trips, the reception staff were really helpful as well & even rang a trip operator up for us when they hadn’t turned up at the pick up time.

All in all we had a lovely time at the Aonang Cliff Beach Resort & would stop here again without hesitation.
