Tony Wheeler, one of the founders of Lonely Planet, reminisces on Shiraz, a very intellectual city of poetry and politics. Go to the Tombs of Hafez to witness the reverence for Iran’s most popular poet and just outside the city are the spectacular ruins of Persepolis. Unfortunately the only thing you can’t expect is, to enjoy a glass of Shiraz in Shiraz.
