Tony Wheeler founder of Lonely Planet visits Phnom Penh in Cambodia. It’s hard to avoid Cambodia’s painful history when visiting Phnom Penh, but the city has emerged with a new ‘spirit of life’ from years of recovery. Phnom Penh now boasts of art deco markets, cafes, Buddhist Temples and popular restaurants and bars such as the Foreign Correspondent Club and the Elephant Bar at the beautifully restored Raffles Hotel.
