Booked a cheap package holiday to the Mansion Nazaret, our first time in Lanzarote.

The apartments are on three floors – our rooms were on the first floor & overlooked the road at the back of the hotel. Its position meant that we had virtually no sun at any time of the day. Spacious accommodation but shabby & dated.

The bathroom door would not close properly & the hairdryer was broken. The kitchen was very pokey with virtually no worktop space. The equipment was minimal & the filter coffee-maker jug was cracked – we asked for a replacement but it never appeared.

We came for a relaxing chilled out one week package holiday in the sun & that is exactly what we had. The apartments are spacious & decorated nicely. Bathroom was of an acceptable standard although the hot water is scalding & only one small towel each.

We received a free breakfast on the first morning to tempt you to upgrade to All-Inclusive but it was awful & no butter for our toast so we didn’t bother. Well equipped kitchen facilities in the room enable you to make breakfast/lunch easy enough so had those in the room instead.

Pool area kept clean although some sunbeds were a bit dodgy, cracked or broken, so you had to be careful there. Lots of umbrellas for shade but the beautiful pools were freezing. This stopped me going in but the kids still went in.

Read mixed reviews on this hotel before leaving so went with an open mind but after staying a week there I can honestly say it has put me off ever returning to Lanzarote.

I have been to the island 4 times & enjoyed previous visits. The hotel is set back away from main area with wasteland surrounding you. First impressions were it’s quite nice – reception spoke excellent English & were very helpful.

Room was very basic & didn’t have the sheets changed at all in the week we were there, towels were only changed 3 times & cleaning staff just popped in gave a quick sweep & were gone again.

Fly screens on windows, kettle, coffee maker, microwave, juice maker, multi speed ceiling fans in the bedroom & lounge, moderate bed density, big fridge freezer, Chargeable TV, satellite & safe.

Apartment cleaned every day, bed linens changed once per week, towels changed twice a week. Pool bar with snacks, restaurant & entertainment twice a week (Elvis).

Pleasant staff all round. Three pools = two kids & one adult. All pools solar panel heated to 93F. Sounds good Eh?

Now calculate this; 80 apartments capable of taking 4 bodies & 77 sun loungers? Rule is you can’t reserve the loungers, BUT if you are not up at 07. 30-10. 00 then the old rule is; if your not fast your last. The rule is NOT implemented by staff or management. OK for beach people.

We stayed at Barcelo Costa Teguise for a 10 day Xmas/New year holiday & were very disappointed. Food was always cold & not good quality. There were lengthy queues most of the time for food & drink.

You had to wait for tables to be cleared before you could eat, this was after queueing to get into restaurant. Hotel was always running out of things like milk, vodka, red wine & ice cream to name a few.

We spent most of our holiday going to town for our food along with a few other couples we had met from this hotel who felt the same about the food & service of this hotel. This made it an expensive holiday as we had gone all inclusive.

Rooms were of very good standard. Cleaned daily including fresh towels. Staff were quite friendly.

Food was typical of inclusive, very repetitive but then again we are quite fussy so therefore ate out 5 nights out of 7 even though we were all inclusive.

Entertainment very poor considering supposedly 5 star hotel. Visited 5 star hotels in Lanzarote with much better entertainment. If happy with reps entertaining you this hotel is for you, not what we would call 5 star.
