Stayed here for a week with no issues. It was a ‘cheapy’ week for us & I must admit it was probably at the lower end of the standard of accommodation I would normally seek. However, having said that, there was absolutely everything required to make it a great week. Accommodation was a little dated & whilst there was an equipped kitchen it was very basic.
We were originally given a ground floor apartment but requested to be moved as …

Have just come back from this hotel & found it really good. There was a good food selection to cater for every ones needs. We found the hotel & rooms very clean & had a great room with splendid views looking over the pool/sea, we found the hotel staff very friendly & nothing was to much trouble for them, especially the lovely woman on the reception (Christine).
Having read some of the other reviews i was i bit sceptical but would definitely have no hesitation in recommending the Polycarpia Hotel & i would go back in the future.
Having read some of the neqative reviews about Lefki Tree aprtments before setting off we wondered what we might be letting ourselves in for. We need not have worried. Our apartment (N0.6) was clean & a delightful cleaner came most days. The beds were comfortable & all facilities were in good working order. Fresh sheets & towels were provided without question & we had a great time.
Mind you, we only used the apartment for sleeping in & breakfasting. All other times we were …

The Faros hotel is a 3 star hotel close to the harbour in Ayia Napa - 5 minutes walk to the centre. We stayed at the hotel for 2 weeks on a B&B basis. The breakfast was really good with plenty of choice. The hotel staff were great - very personable & helpful. The pool is by far the largest & most …

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL IT IS THE WORST HOTEL IN PAPHOS
We stayed at the RIU Cypria Bay Hotel from 6th March to 20th March 2009 we stayed in room 1240 supposedly a side sea view but you could only see the sea if you stood up.
First all of the brochures say that you can use the facilities of both hotels but the Maris was closed for the whole of our stay. There is also supposed to be a lobby bar (the smoking area which you had to walk through in order to go to the bar) and a piano lounge it is in fact all the same room and also includes the reception area and where the entertainment took place and only a very few people could get seats to see the entertainment if you were on the second sitting for dinner forget it.. When a coach arrived with a lot of new guest you could not move for suitcases and guests filling in the registration forms. At the time we were there it was very crowded because there was nowhere else to go which brings me to the Nightclub,
For the first week of our holiday the nightclub was only open for three days because private functions had been booked in the nightclub. When we complained to the manager we were told that the club would be open the next week and that the events had been booked along time ago?????? I am sure a lot of peoples holidays were booked a long time ago. One evening a night manager told us off for making a noise and told us we were inconsiderate to other guest because we were having a laugh and a chat in the piano bar at 1 am and that guest had complained. This is because of the stupid design of the hotel which is all open plan and voices carried up. There was no where else to go. The manager was very rude to us and spoke to us as if we were children. The next morning a lot of the guests were not very happy with us.
The ladies sauna/steam room never worked the whole time we were there.
Now to the real problem with this hotel, the restaurant. It was like a school canteen and was utter chaos every meal time. We were allocated seats and a first or second time slot. We had to keep for the duration of our holiday for the evening meal. Any other four star hotel that we have stayed at you are escorted to your seat and asked what you would like to drink there are candles and flowers on the table. In the Riu Cypria Bay none of that you have to go to your table go and get your wine/beer from a dispenser the tables never had any flowers or candles on it in fact you only ever got a clean table cloth at Dinner time. We were on the second sitting from 8 to 9.30 and while you were finishing your dinner they were laying the tables for breakfast so when you went to get a coffee there were never any cups. The lights were turned off at the service bar at 9.30 and they started to clear everything away so if you did not get in there until 9.00 you only had half an hour to eat. The food was always cold and the choice was terrible. There were supposed to be theme nights but no one ever noticed what they were. The only time we were aware of it was one night when it was Chinese night a chef made fresh banana fritters. There was no menu outside the restaurant and a lot of the time there were no names on dishes at the serving bar..
During breakfast and lunch nine times out of ten you could not find a table that had been set and the table cloths were always dirty. The chaotic way everything is laid out is unbelievable. The tea and coffee machine is the worst layout we have ever seen you have to queue in a long line because everything is placed in a corner instead of being able to fill your cup and move along for sugar and milk which incidentally is placed right over the other side of the restaurant on the cold desserts section as was the butter even thought the toasters bread and jams were over the other side of the dinning room.
On several occasion we would be waiting at the bar for a coffee and there was only one member of staff on she would be making a pot of coffee and making up a tray and leave the bar with a queue of guests to take the tray to the managers office. We just could not believe that taking him his coffee was more important that serving the quests. Once again though if the coffee machine was placed by the cabinet that provided the continental breakfast guests could have helped themselves to it and just left the bar staff serving people who wanted drinks.
As we have already said this is by far the worst hotel we have stayed at we expected so much more from a RIU and were considering going to the one in Mexico but nothing would get me to stay at another RIU hotel. We met other guests who complained about the same things and many said they had stayed there before but would not be going back. I know there are many positive reviews on this hotel but believe me things have changed there
On the positive side the staff on the whole were very, very good the bar staff were very friendly the restaurant manager was amazing and worked very, very hard and the hotel was clean.
I have sent several letters of complaint to the RIU in Paphos and to the head office and it took weeks for them to respond then they responded as if I had sent a letter of praise to them because they only acknowledged the part where I said the staff were friendly and the room was clean.

Spotlessly clean, pool area great, new comfy sofa/sunbeds were put out when we were there. Couple of minutes stroll to a beautiful beach. Water was cool in April but very clear and blue, lovely for swimming. Hotel food was fab with many choices to suit all tastes. We also used the gym which was well fitted out. Hotel towels for use round the pool. Great hairdrier in the hotel room, beds very comfy, shower was excellent + a bath. Rooms cleaned every day. If I ever go back to Ayia Napa (I like to try new places) I would most definately stay here.

We have visited this hotel for some 12 years and have enjoyed every time but this last visit standards have dropped.
Food: the quality and selection has now deteriorated, the food is served tepid not hot, together with cold plates, is not good. The meal in the evening is served at tables with no table cloths!.Staff have been cut to a minimum.
Saving grace was the animation team which have improved no end including their appearance.
We shall look to stay at different hotel next January.

After reading previous reviews on this hotel I was very apprehensive about going to this hotel, all to no avail, it was absolutely fine! I’ll try and be brief and summarise as follows:
Staff - Excellent attitude, very efficient and friendly. Val on reception was english and brilliant, and also the manageress who tried to get us an upgraded room and tried her absolute best but was held back by her own boss. All very hardworking. Cleaners came every day and cleaned, again, friendly and efficient.
Food - Fantastic! I can only think the people who complain of the food being repetitive is because they’re there for 2 weeks and I suppose anything would be repetitive if you went out all the time for 2 weeks. There was always a good selection of choices to suit everyone - examples include:
Soup (oxtail, chicken, pea, ministrone)
Meat - carvery with roast beef, roast lamb, roast turkey, roast pork, beef stifado, chicken, curry, fish
Salad - every type of salad you can think of! Potato, rice, beetroot, standard, tomoatoes, cucumber.
Veg - veg to suit the meat of the evening, even got sprouts one night! Cauliflower, peas, brocolli, etc and gravy.
Puddings - jelly, gateaux (choc and strawberry), traditional eg bread and butter pudding, apple pie/crumble, sponge and custard, ice cream, masses of choice
Then always a selection of cheese and crackers
How can anyone complain about those choices???!!
That was for dinner - breakfast was again excellent - all sorts of breads and cakes (even jam and iced doughnuts!) Your usual cooked stuff - baked beans, bacon, fried eggs, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, potatoes etc, as well as all your cereals, toast, and fruit.
We only had lunch on our last day as we were half board and it was pizza with lots of salad choices and pork with potatoes and veg and gravy.
Surprisingly I didn’t put any weight on though!
Pool - pool was the best pool I’ve ever been to. It was massive and a really big area, well suited to the size of the hotel. Only problem was the water was absolutely freezing!
Rooms - the room I must admit was the one thing that let the holiday down. There was nothing wrong with it as such, it was just a bit dated. It was big enough for the two of us, but only had a tiny balcony. We had a side sea view which was quite a nice view. It was clean though so that’s all I was bothered about and at the end of the day it’s only a base. There was a fridge which you paid 13 euros for and a safe which was about 13 euros too, but if you’re all inclusive you get the fridge money back.
Location - within walking distance to Coral Bay beach and close to bus stops which take you to Paphos which is about a 20 minute ride away for 1.5 euros. Close to the small choice of bars and restaurants.
Entertainment - there was hotel entertainment during the day and evening by a young 20 year old - Dan. He was brilliant, he got involved in all the usual - water polo, french bowls, killer darts etc and single handedly did the evening entertainment - bingo every night as well as a quiz and a Mr and Mrs Ascos night. There were a couple of outside entertainers in which were OK - line dancing, but one act was brilliant - a gay singer/comedian! He was only there for 2 weeks and as we left he was introducing the new entertainer who again, was a single bloke, a bit older but without so much charm.
Age range - average age range of the hotel was about 45/50. I’m 41 and my husband is 40 and we felt we were around the younger end of the scale! There were a few younger groups, but mainly the older generation, but they were all very friendly.
Drinks - we went half board and were definitely in the minority. Would recommend All Inclusive as the drinks prices were extortionate - half a coke was 2.40 euros!
