Best to come clean right off - this was the first time I have ever stayed in an All-Inclusive beach resort hotel & I realised within 24 hrs that the whole concept wasn’t for me. By the end of my 4 night stay at Villa Cuba I had ‘cabin fever’ because there’s not a lot to see & do in Varadero away from the hotel. Also, a lot of what I saw as problems wouldn’t necessarily have been seen that way by others. …

We went to Cuba to the Sol Rio de Luna hotel in Guardalavaca in July to celebrate our honeymoon. What a nightmare! We were given a room on the Mares side which was very basic but at least it was clean. There were chips in the bathroom floor tiles & the decor was gaudy & from the 70’s. …

Just returned from two weeks in Cayo Coco in Cuba & thought it my duty to warn potential holiday makers of this hotel. Ok, first off just a few things about the Blau Colonial hotel in general. It is the last in a series of 5 hotels on the same beach & is just 10 mins from the airport (flights are so infrequent so you won’t be bothered by aircraft noise at all). …

Just returned from a two week stay at Melia Cayo Coco. Was unsure of what the standard of hotel would be in Cuba but we were delighted with our stay & would highly recommend it. The food was excellent with a massive choice for all meals. It was freshly cooked & the quality was excellent including the service provided by the staff in the resturant. …
