Victoria Park Plaza – Amsterdam – Holland

I’ve been to Amsterdam 4 times in the past 4 years and the Victoria Park Plaza is the place I try to get into first. Stayed previously at the Jolly Carlton which was cramped and the Krasnopolsky which was noisy (and not great value at the price!). So the Park Plaza is perfect.

It’s a great location – just a two minute walk across the square from the mainline station which links to the airport in 15 minutes for just 4 euros. It’s on the edge of the shopping district and is in walking distance of most things – Dam Square being 10 minutes up the road.

The rooms are a very decent size, cleaned every day and have everything you want pretty much. I always ask for a quiet room and here I get just that. Always sleep well here. There is a very nice bar area downstairs too, though didn’t eat in the hotel on either stay – too many good restuarants in Amsterdam to eat in! (Supper Club and Gauchos are my top picks, long with Balti House if you want a top curry!). Internet is expensive, but then it is in most places (18euros a day), but staff are friendly and concierge very helpful.
