Vell Mari Aparthotel - C’an Picafort - Majorca
The Vell MariHotel has 4 stars but I don’t think they are rated on the same as in the UK. The Hotel does have a quality feel about it from the moment you arrive though. The reception area is very smart & the reception staff were excellent & spoke a good range of languages.
The resort is landscaped very well & the paths & walkways run throughout the grounds with plenty of trees & flower beds spread around which are very well maintained. There is a free shuttle bus to the beach every 30 minutes throughout the day & a taxi is there within minutes if you want one meaning you can be in the centre of C’an Picafort in 5-10 minutes for around 5 euros.
The C’an Picafort express train runs around the resort & for 10 euros (for 2 adults and two kids) you can get a return journey from the town or anywhere you want to get off. For the price it is a great way to discover the area.
The only negative thing I have to say is the resort is geared around all inclusive and there is no shopping facilities on site & the supermarket is one mile along a (very busy) main road, although only a short hop on the train or by taxi. The town is very touristy but the seafront is very nice with a good long beach & clear safe water. Umberellas & sunbeds are around 11 euro’s for two beds.
There are many choices of great food along the seafront with several bars & restaurants next to each other.
The euro being less now means they are not as cheap as they used to be but we got a round of drinks & a main meal for 4 around 45-55 euro’s including 10% tip.
The hotel food is very expensive at 10.50 euros for breakfast & 35 euros for an evening meal - per adult!
