Sahara Beach Iberostar – Skanes – Tunisia
Just got back from 7 nights at the Sahara Beach in Skanes, Tunisia. Like most of the reviews of this hotel suggest, you get what you expect for a 3 star rating.
The hotel was very very busy, so busy you couldn’t get a sun lounger after 9am. This is a very big complex with ample loungers but if you want a good spot around one of the 3 lovely pools, you honestly had too be down there with your towels before 7am. A lot of people were down well before that but please take note, if you left your towels on the beds & went for breakfast before 7am, sercurity would take your towels to lost property & you’ll have got up for nothing!
The hotel was very clean & tidy, the grounds & pools were immaculte, the beach was lovely & there was always sercurity on the beach & around the pools 24 hrs a day. The Tunisian staff were all very friendly & efficient, but they expected a tip all the time especially the guys who give out the sunbeds, but tip the guys at the bars & they would look after you.
The food was OK, always something for everyone although the bacon at breakfast (heart attack material) was just fat & salty! A bit manic at times as it’s a massive restaurant. The entertainment is more for the kids, but don’t let that put you off. The drinks are not bad, the lager is not bad & I’m normally a premium lager drinker.
The beach bar provides a better selection of food at lunch time. One more thing, don’t get a transfer from the airport, it’s much cheaper to get a taxi – only 10 Dinar (£5) & the hotel is only 5 minutes away.
