Cala Millor Park Aparthotel – Cala Millor – Majorca

This hotel is actually a Hipotel & is in a great location in Cala Millor which is in between Cala Bona & Sa Coma. I have given it a score of 5 for most of the sections as I really can’t fault it.

The accommodation is split into several buildings, some have been refurbished, the remainder are being refurbished.

The unrefurbished rooms are looking a little tired but are clean & tidy, we asked to be moved from the first unrefurbished rooms as the lift area is looking a little tired & our 5 year old wasn’t keen to get in it, the reception staff could not have done more to help us, they moved us with little fuss to a slightly more up to date room with a massive balcony overlooking the sea.

We have done all inclusive once before but this version was so much better than the last, it’s more like full board with drinks included.

No hamburgers/hot dogs around the pool just really good food, all that you can think of including Paella’s, salads, fish, meat (all freshly cooked), cheeses, desserts that actually taste as good as they look. Beer is San Miguel & drinks are Fanta/Coke/Sprite etc.

Wine’s taste half decent & there’s cava if you fancy as well as small selection of cocktails. Slush puppies & ice creams for the children, again it’s walls ice cream, Mini Milks, Cornettos etc. & toasties/cakes if you fancy a mid morning/late afternoon snack.

The entertainment team are very good with the children & adults & the shows that were on whilst we were there were brilliant, a parrot show, a circus act & dancers of various description as well as a few quizzes, I have only given the entertainment a 4 because they didn’t play for money on the bingo lol! (i don’t think they’re allowed but didn’t catch the reason why).

I really haven’t got anything bad to say about this hotel & I’m a fusspot usually.

Cala D Or Park Apartments – Cala d or – Majorca

We recently returned from this so called two star accommodation (before other people start saying you get what you paid for!). We have been two star before but this was something else!

Day one we were given room 209. This was because a Spanish family had spent a night there & decided that they didn’t like it. I think that it might have had something to do with a giant cockroach which was going between the bathroom & under the fridge. Needless to say we didn’t unpack anything & demanded to be moved.

We were told that room e5 was worse than room 209. This didn’t inspire me with confidence. Room e5 was smaller & darker with a view of other apartments & some very dead bushes. But we decided to take it. Just when we thought that it couldn’t get any worse, well it did. The cooker did not work.

Reception sent a man with a spanner, that banged the cooker a few times & blew on it. Eventually he got two out of three rings working, well two out of three aint bad. The next day though, we ran out of calor gas. We did however manage to hire a toaster.

But was told that there were no kettles available. We then had to boil a pan instead. There were no TVs either in the rooms as advertised on the website. This was very misleading, but that was the least of our problems.

About day 3 or 4, the toilet decided to break & even though you could flush it, it just kept filling up & gurgling all night. So then it was back to reception again. This happened twice & after threatening them to move us again they sent another man with a spanner, but this man was a little more qualified than the last man & put new parts in the cistern.

About day 7 we had our beach towels pinched. Reception told me this is because I left them out to dry. I said what am I supposed to do with them. My husband managed to find one of them. Funny enough it was our union jack towel.

We have since found out on here that Spanish gypsies live near these apartments. Which would explain to us finding the union jack towel. On the and side the pool area & entertainment was excellent. Apart from there being no sunbeds after 8am in the morning.

The food at the pool area was great & reasonably priced. If it wasn’t for that I think that we would have come back to England early. As it was we were counting down the days & we even had people wishing that it was them going home & not us. We were not the only ones unhappy. We spoke to people that had moved three times. We stayed for 10 days & was glad that it wasn’t 14.

Holiday Tip: don’t go avoid is my best tip!

Astoria Playa Hotel – Alcudia – Majorca

This is a nice small hotel which is ideally situated for easy access to the beach & town. The rooms are a decent size & the maid came into clean every day & fresh towels provided if needed.

The pool area as said in other reviews is small with limited sunbeds but there always seemed to be sunbeds available throughout the day, something I have never experienced at any other hotel. There is a small garden area as you walk through the bar which is provided with sunloungers & this is a nice peaceful spot to catch a few rays.

Our room was on the front of the hotel overlooking the crazy golf which was pleasant. If you want a balcony with sunshine during the day you need to be on the opposite side, overlooking the pool.

We found that the majority of guests staying in this hotel were couples or older families. I don’t think this hotel particularly caters for younger children though there were a few families with young children.

All the hotel staff were very friendly & the dining room is run very efficiently. My only gripe with the breakfast in a morning is that you couldn’t get an English cup of tea, sad I know but I don’t think it would be an issue if you wanted to take your own tea bags with you.

The food was good & varied, again my only gripe was that I would have liked it to have been a little hotter at times but it wasn’t an issue really. We ate well every morning & night.

There was entertainment laid on each evening which was OK, we had Chinese acrobats one evening & they were quite impressive. The bar staff are really nice & they worked hard to get you served quickly & the hotel bar prices weren’t too bad at all.

All in all a nice little holiday, the hotel was nice & peaceful at night as everything shuts down & 12 so you can get a good nights sleep. I’d return again.
