Macronissos Village - Ayia Napa - Cyprus
So, where to start? The food at the Macronissos Village hotel in Ayia Napa was lovely but there was very little selection. No cakes, no soup, fruit tended to be slices of peach, bananas or slices of melon. There was no cutlery set out or clean tableclothes and a general lack of presentation. My husband did have a word with the managers of the restaurant & bar they did try to put things right but with very little effort.
The rooms are very dated but the ones which have been upgraded are nicer. They are all very clean & well enough equipped, although you have to pay for air conditioning which, in a 3.5 star hotel we thought was a bit much It’s the first time we haven’t had hairdryers in the room too. We were’nt bothered about the location as we have been to Cyprus many times and we know to hire a car to see the island. It’s beautiful wherever you go.
The staff are quite friendly in general but there is one member of the bar staff that lets the team down by being snappy & ignoring the customers. What you have to realise is that this hotel is actually not rated yet but Olympic (who we booked our holiday package through) are rating it 3. 5 “flames”. They are trying for three stars next year but I very much doubt they will achieve this - they should stick to the self catering market IMO.
The entertainment is very poor, nearly non exisistent, both day & night. I think his hands are tied by managers.
Would I stay here again? Not on your life.
