La Luna Studios and Apartments - Troulos - Skiathos

Just back from two weeks staying at La Luna Studios in Troulos, Skiathos. This was our first visit to this Greek island but not to Greece & we found that the beaches all over the island were some of the finest we have ever found in Greece, nice & sandy with clean water.

We stayed in a sc studio at La Luna with a great view over the bay, the staff were nice & friendly & the pool area had a good feel to it with sun beds that no body booked early!

It was nice to be met by a very friendly person in Demitri when booking in - the room was not ready but a cool drink & toasted sandwich at the pool bar made sure it was not an issue. The room was well equipped by Greek standards & clean & fresh with comfortable beds.

The only problem is that the access to the hotel is up a steep slope & after walking up the hill from Troulos the going got tough. Some nice walks on the island & we walked across to the other side of the island twice using the sandy side roads to find bays & beaches with not many people on them.

Not much in the way of the “real Greece” on Skiathos with no old villages to look around. Skiathos town is a very pleasant place with plenty of nice bars & small restaurants up narrow side-streets, bigger bars on the harbour fronts but we like the backstreets that have more going for them. The price of a two course meal for two with local wine works out to about 30 euros.

Most British tourists found that Skiathos wass a bit on the expensive side, like a loaf of bread costing £2. 50 & a litre of milk over £1. 50 in the local shops, but a bit cheaper in the bigger supermarket in Skiathos by bus stop no3. The buses are really good, running from skiathos town no1 to stop no 26 at Kokounares at a cost of 1. 8 euros one way per person.

Not much to do or see but we would go again and next time take a few more food supplies with us!
