Kumala Pantai Hotel – Kuta – Bali

The Kumala Pantai hotel is situated in Legian nr. Kuta & is very reasonably priced. The back of the hotel is on the beach and is separated from it by a paved promenade. Along the beach walkway there are many lovely restaurants to choose from. Also out the front of hotel & a short walk away there are so many restaurants you’ll be spoilt for choice.

This hotel has grown in the past year & now has two new 3 story blocks which face each other & a pool in the middle with a poolside bar. This area is more often used by families. There is also a new H block & apartments which has recently opened. However, the apartments don’t have a balcony & they face the street while H block faces the driveway.

The original part of the hotel has 4 blocks of 3-story buildings. Two face a big pool & 2 more blocks are in a garden setting near the pathway which leads to the restaurant.

Kumala Pantai has a predominantly Australian clientele, is very popular & gets booked up over a year in advance. It used to be more of a couples hotel but with the new blocks including more family rooms, the hotel has lost the ‘couples feel’ & the pools can be quite lively.

We booked direct with the hotel but emails can be a bit slow & sometimes it is quicker to ring or fax. Kumula Pantai allocate rooms on booking, so if you have a particular room choice or category & it’s available they will block it out for you. It’s important to know that there no lifts in the hotel.

The buffet breakfast which is included in the daily rate can be taken in the main restaurant or at the outside restaurant which overlooks the beach. The staff are lovely & nothing seems too much trouble.

All the blocks have Bali (nese) names - “NS” is short for Nakula Sahadewa,  “Y” is for Yudistira etc.
