Aquasol Apartments – Puerto Rico – Gran Canaria

We booked a package holiday at the Aquasol Aparthotel from Feb 9th to 16th 2012.

The room was basic & clean. DonÂ’t go expecting anything posh, this is about as basic as it gets, but itÂ’s only a two key hotel & we didn’Â’t pay much to stay so our expectations we not that high, especially after reading some of the other customer reviews.

However we were very happy with the apartment, flatscreen TV, kitchenette, bathroom/shower & twin bed room. It was cleaned three times in the week we were there. We did not see any ants or cockroaches.

Speaking to the helpful lady at reception (Adriana) she told me that they had recently spent a lot of money on updating security. There was a key fob only entry on to the hotel grounds, CCTV cameras everywhere & a safe in the wardrobe in you room.

The location of the hotel is at the top of a hill, it’s about a 15-20 min walk up the hill from the shops or a 3euro taxi trip. There are some steps going straight down to the bottom near the hotel, but its not for the faint hearted coming back up that way!

Some people may not like the idea of going up a hill, but we liked it as it meant the hotel was away from all the hustle & bustle & noise from the main town. Plus the views were great! We got the sun all day too.

Now, a word about the cats! You need to decide on day one whether or not you are going to feed them. Because take it from me once you feed them (or the wife does!) you wont get rid of them. To the point where they will come in to your apartment or try to get up on to the table if your eating outside.

Also once your room is established as a food source there are nightly territorial cat fights outside your room at 4am. So please feed them at you peril!

We went to Aquasol in February, it was quiet as probably only 1/3 to 1/2 the room were taken. I would go there again at that time of year as it was relaxing & still plenty of sun. However IÂ’m not so sure if I would go there at the height of summer with all the rooms full.

IFA Interclub Atlantic Hotel – San Agustin – Gran Canaria

Hotel was very clean, rooms spacious & cleaned every day.

Food was plentiful, it was a bit samey by the end of the week but we always found something to eat. Drinks were great, wine, beer & soft drinks were self service this meant the kids had drinks when they wanted one, also included in the drinks were a few cocktails which were very nice.

Tthe pool areas were very clean & there were plenty of space & sunbeds available.

The entertainment team tried their best but it was not great & I thought a few outside acts would have been better.

This hotel is out of the way so if you are looking for a quiet getaway from it all break then this is for you, all in all a good package holiday.

Eugenia Victoria Hotel – Playa del Ingles – Gran Canaria

Hotel is situated about a 25 minute walk to beach but they do have a free minibus for those that want it, it is spotlessly clean & the food is excellent, plenty of choice even for fussy eaters.

Our room was a bit tired looking but very clean at the time of this visit it is being renovated so when it is finished I think it should get 4 stars, I cannot complement this hotel enough staff were very friendly & helpful pool area is lovely & there is a wellness centre underneath the hotel with jacuzzi, sauna, dead sea pool, etc.

This was all free while I was there but I think it may have been free due to refurbishment so it was their way of saying sorry for inconvenience. I am writing this review actually while I am in the bar of this hotel on the free internet.

There are a lot of different sized rooms you can have depending on family circumstances, some are really big. Once again I fully recommend this hotel & hope to return again & again best one I have stayed at in a long time, only one slight gripe but not to do with hotel.

The clientele is mostly dutch & I found them the most annoying unfriendly people I have ever met, very ignorant & think nothing of pushing in front of you to get what they want, no manners at all this wasn’t just one dutch person but most of them it must be their upbringing.

Don’t hesitate to pm me if you want to know more, I loved it.

IFA Continental Hotel – Playa Del Ingles – Gran Canaria

Just returned from this hotel on the 27/01/2013. Had a great time. Will return without any worries. Entertainment was in English, staff were friendly & helpful.

Hotel was spotless, food was generally good with plenty of choice (Baked Beans need to be hotter though for breakfast-minor complaint). No problems getting two drink’s at a time. The only real problem was the main swimming pool, water temperature was cold, but then again it was Jan!

Thanks for a great time :-)

Monte Paraiso Apartments – Puerto Rico – Gran Canaria

Myself & my wife stayed here in March 2012, we booked the room through a Internet site so had no dealings with reception, the apartment we had was a one bed overlooking the whole resort. The views were the best I have ever seen & spent most of our time (while in the apt) looking over the balcony.

Otherwise the room was fine, the bathroom could have done with a little tlc but with only the two of us we had no problem with the hot water running out (try have your shower a little early).

The complex was quiet with plenty of room at the pool & the poolside bar was OK for what we wanted, an odd snack & a few beers in the afternoon, staff were friendly, no entertainment but didn’t really want to hang around there at night.

Location is good for the view & the Europa Centre but as has been said the walk to the main centre is long & steep, didn’t bother us as we love to walk but always got a taxi back up but didn’t spoil the overall enjoyment.

The noise from the main centre at night can be heard but as we went out every evening & didn’t get back till two or 3am It didn’t bother us at all, the only thing was it was the same music every night lol.

Lopesan Baobab Resort – Meloneras  – Gran Canaria

Just returned from a package holiday at an excellent new hotel, lovely & clean.

Our main problem was with the suitability for the British. For instance 70 TV channels in the room, only 3 were English speaking.

Every morning we asked for tea at breakfast & 5 out of the 7 times it never arrived.

There were a lot of German & Spanish at the hotel that to us (and to another British families we spoke to) were treated a lot better by the hotel staff.

Our view is that it is a 5 star hotel giving two star service.
