Fiesta Cala Nova Hotel - Es Cana - Ibiza
You can’t beat the Cala Nova hotel in Es Cana for a relaxing holiday, whether you are travelling as a family with children, teenagers or as a couple. It’s welcoming, friendly & in a superb location.
The hotel is absolutely spotless. The staff work very hard, are personable & welcome us back year after year. We have met some lovely people at the Cala Nova & I would say if you want a relaxing, quiet holiday within easy reach of Es Cana, with the option of all-inclusive (about £16 per adult per day), or all-inclusive drinks only (about £12 per adult per day), then it can’t be beaten.
The public areas could have done with a facelift here & there, particularly in the lounge where the sofas & easy chairs are somewhat dated but they are oh, so comfortable - just right for escaping the blistering hot sun in the afternoons & chilling out with a cold drink & a good book. Just like home from home really!
The food is superb with an eye-popping choice. There is a carvery every night, with the chef cutting the meat straight from the joint for you. The chef also cooks eggs for breakfast; he will create you a delicious omelette to order, & he will fry an egg for you just the way you like it. You just have to wait a minute or two, but this hotel attracts such nice people that the time passes in no time at all while you have a chat with other guests & watch your breakfast being cooked by someone else. Bliss!
The rooms are comfortable, & fine for two people. A third bed does make them a bit cramped though. The interconnecting doors are ideal for an extended family & enable hard-working parents to go out & enjoy themselves whilst grandparents babysit. The downside of the connecting doors is that you can hear noise from adjoining rooms, but we’ve never found it too much of a issue. We try to be quiet & I think the majority of other people do too. The air-conditioning is welcome, although make sure your balcony door is properly shut or else it won’t work.
Our grown-up children declared the resort “excellent”. Apparently, it’s easy to get to the big clubs (tickets can be bought in Es Cana & a disco bus runs to San Antonio). Younger guests drift back to the Cala Nova just in time to give breakfast a miss before spending all day recovering in lovely peace & quiet. It is a great hotel for a family holiday - plenty to do for all ages but there’s no pressure to join in with anything & if you want to find a quiet shady spot in the hotel grounds there are plenty of little areas where you can relax away from the immediate pool area.
There are some nice bars & pubs in town too, if you fancy an evening away from the hotel. The entertainment in the hotel itself in the evenings is not great. I would say if entertainment is high on your priority list then don’t book this hotel. Daytime activities for those who want to participate are fine, though.
The views from the hotel are spectacular. The Cala Nova beach is much better & quieter than the one in Es Cana & there are some pleasant walks around the resort that will take you off the beaten track.
This year will be our seventh visit.
