Alykanas Village Hotel and Apartments - Alykanas - Zante
I stayed at the Alykanas Village apartments with my son aged 12 & my Granddaughter aged 2 & half. The complex is a Thomson super family & therefore plenty of children have to be expected. We stayed in room 104 which was ground floor facing the beach / pool & in my opinion one of the best rooms in the complex for the location. The room itself was average as far as i am concerned, maybe 4 star in their standards but 3 in mine ( bathroom could have done with updating & nothing exciting to warrant 4 stars ).
The room appeared clean but dust lay in the corners & also along the top of the headboard for the week we were there. Bed sheets needed changed after an accident on the first night but despite making the beds daily the sheets were not changed until day four so had to sleep with dirty sheets!
The pool areas were spotless & very well kept. We only used the beach pool as the other one in the center of the complex was too rowdy for me. Daily entertainment of darts, bowls & quiz isn’t my idea of fun but fair play to the staff who work hard to keep people entertained.
There was a snack bar selling drinks & food in between the two areas but i felt this could have been open longer & also was a bit expensive £8 for 3 ice lollies !!!!!!!!
There was also an on-site kids play area which was superb. Also on-site is a mini market which stocked BASIC goods ( same prices as other shops in the resort ) and was open 07.30 to 11pm
Overall i would not stay here again but would maybe stay next door at the Alykanas beach as that appeared less overrun with children ( my daughter booked this so i had no option ). The resort was just opening & many bars / restaurants were not yet ready. The exchange rate being very poor we found it a little expensive & have just booked 2 weeks all inc. in the Dominican fRepublic or not much more than this cost when spending money is factored in.
