On a mission to update the Sri Lanka Lonely Planet guide, Michael Kohn explores the temples and ruins of ancient cities, Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa. But before he sets off he starts the day with a traditional spicy Sri Lankan breakfast consisting of roti and dahl, which gears him up for the sights and spriitual rituals at the ancient temples and palace ruins. As he travels to Colombo Michael discovers Sri Lanka’s upcoming alternative music scene that fuses traditional Sri Lankan sounds with Western rock.
